our why
Our why was established by mission-based entrepreneur Tessa Edison, who launched Building London Bridges (BLB) in 2017. She named it in honor of her mother, a native Washingtonian, who later lived on London Bridge Drive in Maryland, and was always dedicated to serving those in need.

Our mission is to partner with and amplify small, local charities in the Greater Washington region that are focused on ending homelessness, increasing access to affordable housing, empowering underserved communities, and preparing individuals for the evolving workforce. We carry out this mission by providing vital visibility, financial resources, and volunteer support.
our goal
Our goal is to bridge the gap between donors and smaller organizations that are without dedicated fundraising teams. We aim to increase the availability of transitional housing in underserved communities, complete with comprehensive support services, with a special focus on education and reskilling programs to prepare individuals for the future workforce.
